From early examples in self-driven legal practiceand home-spun advice, the connotations of the word have spread and often apply particularly to education, business, psychology and psychotherapy, commonly distributed through the popular genre of self-help books. Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a pseudoscientific approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in California, United States, in the 1970s. NLP’s creators claim there is a connection between neurological processes (neuro-), language (linguistic) and behavioral patterns learned through experience (programming), and that these can be changed to achieve specific goals in life. Bandler and Grinder also claim that NLP methodology can “model” the skills of exceptional people, allowing anyone to acquire those skills.They claim as well that, often in a single session, NLP can treat problems such as phobias, depression, tic disorders, psychosomatic illnesses, near-sightedness, allergy, the common cold, and learning disorders. NLP has been adopted by some hypnotherapists and also by companies that run seminars marketed as leadership training to businesses and government agencies. There is no scientific evidence supporting the claims made by NLP advocates, and it has been discredited as a pseudoscience. They also teach important lessons about teamwork and self-discipline. But children are at risk for sports injuries. That’s because their bodies are still growing and their coordination is still developing. Many children ages 14 and younger are treated for sports-related injuries each year. Half of all of those injuries can be prevented with proper use of safety gear and changes to the playing environment. Following sports rules can help prevent injuries, too. Most sports injuries occur due to the following: Lack of education and awareness about safety precautions and potential injury Inappropriate or lack of equipment Poorly conditioned players These are general safety precautions to help prevent sports injuries: Wear the right safety gear and equipment.
